TacticalLion Designs Setup Guide

Your download includes quick setup files for OBS Studio and Streamlabs Desktop, along with the individual overlay files for manual setup.

Before you start, unzip the downloaded package onto your computer. Do not import files directly from inside the zip folder, as this can cause missing sources or broken file paths later.

For the fastest setup, use the OBS or Streamlabs quick install option below. If you use Meld Studio, StreamElements, Twitch Studio, or another streaming app, use the manual setup section.

OBS Studio Setup

Open OBS Studio, then go to Scene Collection and choose Import.

Click Add, then browse to the OBS quick install folder inside your downloaded package. Select the .json file and import it.

Once the import is complete, go back to Scene Collection and select the new scene collection. Your scenes will now appear inside OBS.

If OBS prompts you to locate missing files, click Search Folder (or Browse) and select the folder containing the overlay files from your downloaded package. OBS will automatically relink any missing media assets such as overlays, alerts, videos, and transitions.

Before streaming, check your webcam source. OBS can sometimes disable webcam sources when importing a new scene collection, so you may need to open the webcam source settings and re-enable or reselect your camera.

Streamlabs Desktop Setup

Your download includes a .overlay file for Streamlabs Desktop.

Open Streamlabs Desktop and click the settings icon in the bottom left. Go to Scene Collections, then choose Import Overlay File.

Select the .overlay file from your downloaded package and let Streamlabs import it.

This can take a few minutes, especially with animated scenes, transitions, and multiple sources. Once it has finished, check each scene to make sure everything has loaded correctly.

Streamlabs Alerts

Open the alerts folder inside your downloaded package and use the quick setup link.

When Streamlabs asks where to import the alerts, create a new widget theme. This keeps the new alerts separate from any alerts you already use.

After the alert theme has been created, open your Streamlabs Alert Box, copy your alert URL, and add it to your streaming software as a Browser Source.

Test each alert before going live. Check follows, subscribers, bits, raids, and any other alerts included with the package.

Stinger Transitions

Your package includes a stinger transition file.

In OBS Studio, open the Scene Transitions panel, add a new Stinger transition, then select the stinger .webm file from your package. Set the transition point type to Time and use 500ms as the starting point.

In Streamlabs Desktop, open the transition settings above your scenes, choose Stinger, then select the stinger video file. A duration of 1000ms and a transition point of 500ms works well for most setups.

Switch between scenes a few times to test the timing. If the transition cuts too early or too late, adjust the transition point slightly.

Manual Setup

Use manual setup for Meld Studio, StreamElements, Twitch Studio, or any other streaming software.

You can also use this method if you prefer to build your scenes yourself instead of using the quick import files.

The main source types are:

  • Media Source for animated .webm files
  • Image Source for static .png files
  • Browser Source for alerts, chat boxes, event lists, goals, and widgets
  • Text Source for editable text

In OBS Studio, click the + button in the Sources panel, choose the correct source type, then select the file from your downloaded package.

Use Media Source for animated screens and overlays. Use Image Source for static graphics. Use Browser Source for alerts and widgets.

Before You Go Live

Run through the package before starting your stream.

Check that your scenes switch properly, your webcam is visible, your alerts work, and your stinger transition plays at the right time.

Also make sure browser sources, widgets, and media files are loading correctly.

If something is missing, the most common cause is the package folder being moved after setup. OBS and Streamlabs link to the files on your computer, so moving or renaming the folder can break those links.
