How Much Do Gifted Subs Cost on Twitch?
Gifted subs use the same pricing as regular subscriptions. There are three tiers and the cost per sub stays flat regardless of how many you gift:
- Tier 1: $5.99 per sub
- Tier 2: $9.99 per sub
- Tier 3: $24.99 per sub
Twitch does not offer bulk pricing. Gifting 100 subs at Tier 1 costs $599.00 on Twitch web in the US, the same as buying 100 individual $5.99 subs one at a time. There are no volume discounts.
How Much Does a Streamer Earn from Gifted Subs?
Streamers receive 50% of each subscription at the standard Twitch Affiliate rate. That applies to gifted subs the same way it applies to regular paid subs. The breakdown per sub is:
- Tier 1 gifted sub: streamer earns approximately $3.00 at a 50% split
- Tier 2 gifted sub: streamer earns approximately $5.00
- Tier 3 gifted sub: streamer earns approximately $12.50
Some Twitch Partners have negotiated a higher split, typically 60% or 70%, but the default for most streamers is 50/50. The calculator above shows the standard 50% rate and also displays the equivalent at a 70% Partner split so you can compare.
Twitch’s 50/50 split has been a point of discussion in the creator community for a while. As of 2026, it remains the standard for most Affiliates and a large portion of Partners.
What Are Gifted Subs on Twitch?
When someone gifts subs, they pay for other viewers in the channel to receive a subscription. The gifter selects the number of subs and the tier, pays upfront, and Twitch distributes them randomly to viewers currently in the channel. Viewers who have opted out of receiving gifts are excluded.
Recipients get 30 days of sub access, which includes:
- Channel emotes
- Sub badges, which are the icons that appear next to a username in chat
- Sub-only chat access if the streamer has it enabled
- Ad-free viewing if the channel has it set up
Gifted subs go through Twitch’s revenue share. A $5.99 Tier 1 gifted sub results in approximately $3.00 to the streamer at a standard 50% split.
If you want to check the correct dimensions for sub badges before designing them, use the Twitch Badge Resizer to make sure your files meet Twitch’s requirements.
Gifted Subs vs Bits on Twitch
Bits pay $0.01 to the streamer per bit with no Twitch revenue share cut. A viewer sending 500 bits pays approximately $7.00 to purchase those bits from Twitch, while the streamer receives the full $5.00. Use the Twitch Bits to USD Calculator to convert any bit amount instantly.
Gifted subs go through Twitch’s revenue share. A $5.99 Tier 1 sub results in approximately $3.00 to the streamer at a standard 50% split. For viewers who want to maximise how much the streamer receives per dollar spent, bits can often be more efficient.
That said, gifted subs help build the channel community in a way bits cannot. Recipients get 30 days of emote access, sub badges, and any sub-only perks the streamer has set up. If growing the channel’s sub count matters, gifted subs are the better option.

Do gifted subs help with Twitch Affiliate or Partner status?
Gifted subs can show that a channel has an active paying community, but they do not directly qualify a streamer for Twitch Affiliate. Affiliate eligibility is based on followers, stream time, stream days, and average viewers. For Partner review, subscriptions may support the overall picture of channel growth, but they are not a guaranteed route to Partner status.
